I actually came up with the idea for Zam's card first while working on Boba Fett. I briefly considered giving Jango more pseudo-attack Specials to mirror his clone/son, but decided against making a "Ken" for Epic Duels.
My first Jango design revolved around attacks that could be repeated by discarding cards from the top of your draw pile and cards that activate when discarded in that way. That idea ended up being clunky and was at odds with Zam, so I eventually streamlined it and used it for Han and Chewie.
The design I went with came to me almost fully-formed and fit the character well enough. I ended up using the on-its-side mechanic as a way to implement many small, long term de-buffs. I somewhat regret not using the on-its-side option to implement more talents in other decks, but it allows Jango to stand alone as a unique de-buff character. Here's the prequel Mandalorian in all his glory:
Jango Fett – HP 15 – Yellow Deck – Ranged
Zam Wesell – HP 10 – Strong Deck – Ranged

For no particular reason, the base set for Galactic Battles includes only one "traditional" shooter deck (IG-88) and Advanced Studies only added one more (Cad Bane). There are other Yellow decks in the set, but they tend to be commanders or direct damage decks (Bly, Gunray, Lando, Tarkin). With Complete Circle, I have the opportunity to bring in several more typical ranged characters, including Jango. The elder Fett uses a fairly standard hit-and-run style, but also has the unique ability to hobble his prey with a suite of poisons, which also increase his damage. Kamino Saberdart allows him to search out any of his toxins since some restrictions are much better in particular match-ups.
Jango's output will depend somewhat on whether or not Zam can land multiple attacks from safety via Sniper's Nest and on how much his opponent is affected by various toxins. When playing Jango against an opponent who is very susceptible to a particular toxin, it's important to stack less important toxins first, so that multiple discards are required to cure the important one.
Jango has an obvious teammate in Commander Bly, who can use Suppression Fire with toxins to lock down a character until the requisite actions and discards are paid. Jango should additionally pair well with other shooters and disruptive decks, especially those with snares to help Zam land hits.
Jango's biggest challenge is in playing toxins and attacks without making himself overly vulnerable to counterattack. When playing against Jango, it's important to keep moving your characters to avoid Zam's Sniper's Nest and to get to him relatively quickly. Unless your character relies on a mechanic that Jango's toxins punish, it's generally advisable not to cure them because the discards will add up more quickly than the bonus damage.
Check back again tomorrow for a look at a new character who really warps the game around himself!
