No matter your opinion on new Star Wars content, it feels very different to be a fan creator in 2022 than it did in the Star Wars wasteland of 2009. The Dark Side of having all this Star Wars stuff to choose from is that a lot of characters I enjoyed didn’t make the cut. But no one’s ever really gone. So who knows?
I consider the designs published on this blog to represent the “1.0” versions of these decks. One of the advantages of working on a fan project like this is that I can tinker. If you look back at the Complete Circle previews, you’ll see pretty different versions of Maul, Jango, and Kazdan than the ones I use today. Maul can keep his stacks while switching targets, Jango has more flexibility and a new toy for Zam, and Kazdan even uses a completely different deck color! These are part of a living game and I look forward to making updates if I am ever in a position to see them played with regularity.
This release puts the Galactic Battles set at 50 decks. Assuming the Obi-Wan Kenobi series doesn’t tempt me too much, this rounds out the roster for the foreseeable future.
As for the deck files, I have good news and bad news. First the bad news: I was not able to get PDF or VASSAL files made in Deck Designer in time for this release.
The good news is that two graphic designers on the Epic Duels Discord have very graciously offered to make much, much nicer deck images for me! Everyone thank BMLDesigns and isutton007 for generously lending their time and expertise to this project! You should also thank BML by heading over to his website, bmldesigns.com, and checking out his other work! I will be sure to upload the files to the Mega link once they’re finished and probably make another post here as well.
This project wouldn’t exist without the small but persistent Epic Duels custom community. Happy 20th anniversary, Epic Duels fans!
May the Force be with you. Always.
